Mayfield Homestead is a careful balance of preservation and progression, where heritage detailing is celebrated alongside refined modern interventions. The design fosters a deep connection to the rural landscape, integrating natural materials, elegant spatial proportions, and a seamless indoor-outdoor flow. It’s a home that balances country grandeur with casual living, creating a timeless retreat.
Located in Bungowannah, NSW, the reimagined homestead respects its 19th-century origins while introducing contemporary pavilions that enhance openness and connection to the landscape. The design restores the original residence’s historic charm while seamlessly integrating new living spaces defined by light, texture, and a sophisticated yet restrained material palette.
The re-design of Mayfield has completely changed how we experience home. The design embraces incredible views, making us feel connected to the farm and river every day. Our mornings start with a coffee in the living area and summer days are spent by the pool with family. The house truly was designed for hosting and entertaining – whether it’s a quiet dinner or our son’s wedding of 120+ guests, it flows effortlessly. With a self-contained wing for family, a chef-ready kitchen, and thoughtful details like heated floors and a mudroom – Mayfield is as functional as it is beautiful.
