Marvel Stadium’s interiors were upgraded to enhance the visitor experience, add value, and improve operations to create a year-round destination. Reuse was a priority, ultimately 67% of the existing Stadium structure was retained while F&B offerings were increased by 40% within the existing footprint.
Conceptually, the interiors drew upon the stadium’s physical and emotional connection to Melbourne, fostering a sense of community ownership. “Our People, Our Place; Made in Melbourne” was the guiding concept for the design.
Interventions over the four levels provides new gender-neutral change facilities, modern amenity including sensory rooms, prayer rooms and bathrooms. Extensive expansion of the F&B offers on three levels are crowned with the new private function rooms and outdoor terraces.
The result is a uniquely Melbourne stadium, repurposed as a vibrant and vital sports and entertainment destination for the future.
The world-class renovation has transformed Marvel Stadium into a 365-day destination, delivering one of the best fan experiences in Australia. The design unlocks the stadium’s year-round potential, underpinning Victoria’s major events calendar and benefiting the community through daily patronage. The new ‘Stadium Square’ entry is a state-of-the-art fan zone for events like the Super Bowl and NBA live-site parties. With upgraded function spaces, diverse dining options, and inclusive facilities for fans and players alike, the redevelopment revitalises Marvel Stadium as a premier sports and entertainment venue and a day-to-day destination within the City of Melbourne
