Little Lane is a mixed-use development that demonstrates how modest projects can deliver meaningful public value. Guided by permeability, adaptability, and urban generosity, the scheme uses laneways to structure movement, social exchange, and fine-grain activation. Replacing a large-format building with limited legibility, it introduces two new pedestrian laneways that act as commercial-facing civic spaces, supporting small tenancies and everyday communal life.
The built form responds thoughtfully to its context of commercial character and brick apartment buildings through scale, massing, and articulation. A palette of brick and concrete, complemented by integrated landscaping, grounds the project in its subtropical setting.Â
Ground-level spaces activate the laneways, while a rooftop restaurant establishes a destination above the street. Relocating part of the lettable area underground unlocks public space at ground level, enhancing permeability and creating a more connected, socially active urban environment.
