Media summary

The Light Horse Logistics Hub Office project represents a landmark initiative in redefining industrial estates through highly considered architectural design and sustainable construction practices. nettletontribe’s response eschews aesthetically driven architectural gestures, instead prioritising function and environmental performance to deliver efficient and comfortable human-centric spaces.

Set in the hot and dry grassy plains of Western Sydney, the defining architectural feature, a soaring timber-framed butterfly roof, shades the façades and adjacent outdoor spaces from harsh sunlight. Operable glass louvres allow the building to breathe.

The renewable mass-timber structure is celebrated inside and out, its low embodied carbon contributing to the project’s sustainability and its raw materiality bringing a warmth and aesthetic appeal. Robust interiors complement the exposed timber structures, keeping true to the building’s industrial essence.

Simple in form, functional in essence and comfortable to inhabit, the Light Horse Logistics Hub Office stands as an exemplar for outer-suburban workplaces.

The timber office structure at Light Horse Logistics Hub was created with the tenant customer’s experience, sustainability ambitions and wellbeing at the forefront of design. The intent was to bring CBD-style architecture to the flagship industrial estate, using sustainable, low-impact materials. The pavilion style design and large windows allow for maximum natural light, enhancing the atmosphere within the office, and cohesion between indoor and outdoor spaces with integrated greenery and landscaped courtyard areas provide employees with privacy and an enjoyable space to rest and recharge. The innovative design fosters a healthier, sustainable workplace environment in a traditional industrial estate environment.
