Harry the Hirer's new headquarters transforms a neglected 100-year-old heritage warehouse into a four-level workspace that mirrors the energy and adaptability of the large-scale events they deliver, including the Australian Open and Formula 1.
A central void carved through all floors connects the previously separated team through multiple channels—visual, acoustic, and physical—maintaining the culture of interconnectedness critical to operational success. Prefabricated steel stairs and bridges were craned through the roof and threaded through the existing structure.
Technology integrates throughout: transparent LED screens on a three-storey glass curtain wall, robotically positioned lighting, and programmable polished bluestone floors transform the permanent building into mutable event-like infrastructure. The space functions simultaneously as workplace and quasi-public showroom.
Restoration exposed original timber cross-bracing, steel windows, and concrete machinery pads, creating dialogue between ephemeral event operations and enduring industrial heritage.
