CQ2 is a 13 Storey office building designed to hold the corner of Northbourne Ave and Cooyong St as a responsible piece of city making.
The building was planned to encourage productivity and innovation for its occupants, which is emphasised by the central atrium. The typical floor plates were designed for maximum flexibility around the atrium to encourage activation and movement via the inter floor communication stairs, while the atrium also allows natural light between the floors to the ground plane.
The ground plane was designed to encourage activity generated by the direct internal throughfare between the city’s key transport spines Northbourne Avenue and Mort Street. This internal pedestrian throughfare supports a strong connection to a range of retail and service amenities all located on the ground plane of CQ2, which in association with the adjoining CQ1 building, has created an activated public realm for this part of the City.
Civic Quarter 2 (CQ2) is an agile 21st Century workplace that is innovative, connected and sustainable. Our design philosophy was based on three fundamental ideas: flexibility, scalability and amenity.
The result is a market-leading design that supports flexible working and encourages collaboration in the modern workplace.
CQ2’s architecture and design is undoubtedly commensurate with the premium office buildings of Sydney and Melbourne and raises industry standards; together with CQ1, it completes our vision to create Canberra’s premier office precinct.
