TASMANIAN CHAPTER ARCHITECTURE AWARDS HELD IN LAUNCESTON
The 2025 Tasmanian Architecture Awards were announced at a presentation event in Launceston on Saturday 5 July, curated by Rosie Shield, Felix Blackman, and Kelsie Langley.
Attendees met at the Val d’Osne fountain in the heart of Princes Square, in their ‘Bush Glam’ attire, before jumping on a bus and receiving a map for the journey ahead with three locations on the itinerary: the first stop at Cataract Gorge, where the buses arrived the First Basin. From there, guests crossed the South Esk River to witness the beauty of the land, water and winter sky, whilst awards were announced and snacks received for the next part of the expedition: a trek returning to the city with our guide, Bert Spinks.
Guests were invited to ‘meander downstream’, with a bushwalk down the South Esk River, to where it joins the Kanamaluka (Tamar), choosing between the ‘Easy Breezy Cataract Walk’ or the ‘Achy Breaky Zig Zag Track’.
As the hibernal sun set, guests stepped into cosier spaces. The ‘side trip’, at the former Christ Church, offered a treat: refreshments, canapes, a hot drink or a glass of bubbles, while settling in for the main awards presentation. The ‘bushwalker’s retreat’, at Du Cane Brewery, provided a fitting ‘Bush Glam’ finale, where attendees feasted with friends.
Thank you to everyone who attended and all of those who made the evening possible.
