At a time when natural disasters have affected so many across NSW, it was very disheartening to see new planning Minister Roberts not only revoke the nine planning principles of his predecessor, Minister Rob Stokes, but, as we feared, dump the whole Design and Place SEPP package. The fact that the announcement was made at an Urban Taskforce lunch speaks volumes. This was an extensive body of work by the Government Architect team which put good design at the heart of planning principles. Thank you to those members who contributed to our submission. We will continue to advocate for important work such as this to continue despite the decisions made by the current planning Minister. Read our Media Statement on the scrapping of the SEPP here.

We are currently participating in roundtable discussions with regard to the Fair Trading review of the Home Building Act. Part of these discussions has focused on issues experienced with government contracts and procurement. We have heard from members there are concerns in the areas of damages and limitations of liability, set off clauses, clauses which remove provisions for reliance on information to name a few.
If you have experienced specific difficulties as the result of a government contract we would like to hear from you.
Please email lisa.king@architecture.com.au with your concerns or issues.
