I hope 2022 finds all our members and their families safe and well. Whilst welcoming the new year, we face both challenges and opportunities. In the coming year we plan to develop a number of International Chapter member practice forums to connect you virtually and provide an opportunity discuss your needs, the challenges you face in practice and the ways the Institute can support you in your practice of architecture. The first of these will occur in the coming months in Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore, and I look forward to meeting many of you (virtually) at this time.
I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the International Chapter Councillors, who steer the work of the Chapter and I would like to thank them all for the important work they do on your behalf. I specifically would like to thank members for their nominations for the positions on the International Chapter Council, and congratulate Grant Maroni, Vui Choong, Hank Koning, Wei Jien and Justin Hill on their re-election to the International Chapter Council. All have a great passion for architecture and the work of the International Chapter and I am delighted to be working with them all for another term.
I encourage you all to enter your work into the Institute’s awards program which closes next Tuesday. This program gives the Institute the opportunity to showcase your work to a broader audience as well as taking part in the peer review process. It brings together the body of work that Australian architects are doing overseas.
I also want you all to know that if you have issues or challenges you want to discuss, I am always available. Feel free to email me on jennifer.nichols@architecture.com.au, or call me on 0409 216 526 – but please check the time zones first!
Wishing you all prosperous and happy 2022.
