Transitions and Change
As we all push toward the end of the year, I hope the pressure of wrapping things up isn’t compounding for you, and that some space is beginning to open up. This time of year has a particular way of bringing deadlines, events and obligations together all at once.
By now, you will have read Cameron Bruhn’s letter outlining recent changes within the Queensland Chapter team. Many of you will have worked closely with Anna, and know her as a capable, warm and deeply committed colleague and this change will be keenly felt by many. Cameron’s letter outlines staffing and the transition arrangements for the Chapter.
Transitions are never easy—for those leaving, for those stepping in, and for the community around them. I know the entire membership joins me in wishing Anna very best, and in offering an enormous, heartfelt thank you for her dedication, calm resilience, integrity and hard work. In her time with us she has had real impact on our membership.
Last week, National Council met, and it was a reminder of what can be achieved when architects come together with generosity, cooperation and a shared purpose. National Council brings together councillors and chapter presidents from across the country, and I can say confidently that every person around that table is committed to strengthening the Institute and supporting the profession. I came away with a strong sense of moving forward as an organisation with a sense constructive optimism.
This brings me to a final and very important transition: our elections. If you haven’t already, please take the time to vote. Our elected member roles matter. We want a National Council, Chapter Council and a President who are constructive, articulate and deeply committed to the bigger project of building a stronger and more influential profession. Your vote genuinely helps shape that future.
Thank you, as always, for everything you contribute.
