The Suburban Land Agency’s Whitlam Innovation Precinct, designed by Heyward Lance Architecture demonstrates industry best-practice for “Multi-Generational Living” & exemplar sustainable design – and includes a variety of floorplans to suit a diversity of occupants. A commitment to the reduction of the carbon footprint over time is highlighted through passive solar design principles coupled with sustainable innovation that conserve energy & natural resources.
The project forms the focal point to SLA’s Whitlam Display Village & is open to the public to learn about sustainable design & building innovation while enjoying the precinct’s services & place amenity.
The SLA’s Director for Built Form & Divestment, Nicholas Holt, said the Innovation precinct in Whitlam reflects the ACT Government’s commitment to showcase sustainable & livable designs that support ageing in place & innovative design. “The precinct showcases that people & place-led design is fundamental to create communities & look after the planet. It highlights the SLA’s commitment to delivering great places where communities thrive”.
The project has given the Suburban Land Agency the opportunity to demonstrate industry best-practice for “Multi-Generational Living” and exemplar sustainable design.
The project has sown the seeds for community connections by utilising the precinct temporarily as a display and community hub with a curated program of community activities and cultural events.
The project has created a focal point for the local community, a home for the Agency’s sales suite and community development spaces and the ability to demonstrate innovative housing solutions to potential home builders.
