New South Wales
two point house is a project that defines its location. Situated on the beach, on the coast and facing north east it required a specific object. To look directly at the ocean and be on the beach is a dream but a problem….the strong winds in summer and orientation are often at odds.
We had an extrodinary view up along the coastline….that’s one point of view. Then there is the longing of the far distant horizon…..that’s another point of view…..the distant…..
Working in a remote community and entertaining the idea of a master work in construction brings its challenges….and that’s where the house and build linked itself into the community. The impact on the place and people will not be forgotten…..we embraced every person we could.
The end project, suprisingly, is a humble house.. .tucked into the point, small, low and discreet.
I have known Drew and his work for many years. Although we are almost opposite in the way that we procure a building, we both have a great respect for the industry. These different ways of working hopefully brought something extra to the project. Regardless of this, the project was also about making a family house at the beach that would exist for many generations.
