South Australia
Based on five years of research in neurodiversity, Hames Sharley’s Adelaide Studio is designed to empower its team to work in conditions that best suit their sensory needs. A curated arrangement of work settings support a range of low-, medium- and high-energy activities, empowering team members to ‘dial up’ or ‘dial down’ the sensory input of their environment across each day, promoting focus, comfort and wellbeing.
Locally sourced materials and biophilic elements create a welcoming atmosphere that feels almost residential, reflecting Hames Sharley’s commitment to creating places that foster creativity and sustainable outcomes.
Located in the heritage-listed Reserve Bank building overlooking the significant Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga precinct, the studio celebrates Adelaide’s identity as the ‘festival state’ by boldly championing art and collaboration. This supports the people-focused approach that helps Hames Sharley co-design spaces that enable South Australian communities to flourish.
Our new studio has had a profound impact on our team and clients. Through the research process, staff gained a deeper understanding of their own sensory needs which empowered them to shift to an agile working environment. Alongside our flexible working policies, the new studio reinforces our culture of empathy and trust, enabling our team to bring their authentic selves to work every day.
Clients frequently praise the welcoming atmosphere and ‘homely’ feel that encourages collaboration, comfort, and creativity. We are incredibly proud of what this studio represents, both for our people and for the future of workplace design.
