There was once a time where the majority of work delivered by architects was drawn by hand. These days are long gone with digital documentation being used exclusively by the vast majority of architects. Hand drawing is still a foundational tool for architects, with quick sketches being the fastest way to convey an idea to their colleagues or clients alike. "The Golden Age of Hand Drawing" will see some of Victoria's most prolific architects talk about when hand drawing ruled the architecture studio and how drawing has evolved since the implementation of digital design. "The Vault" is a unique program designed to showcase the evolution of architectural documentation over the years, from 1947 to the present day. We are inviting architecture firms to submit their archived documentation packages, providing insight into the changing practices and techniques used in architectural documentation. The program will feature a curated library of drawings, starting with the drawings produced by Robin Boyd's "Small Homes Service" in 1947, and spanning to contemporary documentation practices. This exhibition will offer design practitioners and the public a rare opportunity to explore the evolution of architectural documentation firsthand.
