Practical considerations for roof design

There are a number of competing factors when designing for commercial or residential roofing in Australia and these can change depending on where the building is located.

Requirements for roofing design in the NCC are also often modified. In this session, Glen Roberts and Homeira Aryanpad reviewed practical considerations for roof design in Australian conditions, focussing on implications of different wind classifications, weatherability and rainfall, roof pitch, fixing methods, thermal performance, climate zones and roof colour, lapping alternatives, single skin or insulated panel roofing and warranty considerations.

They also demonstrated static and cyclonic testing and failure modes using the Bondor® NATA certified structural testing facility.
