Tasmanian Architecture Awards People’s Choice is now open

The Tasmanian Architecture Awards People’s Choice is now open for voting. 24 projects from across Tasmania are featured, and we’re asking the public to have their say and vote for their favourite.

The projects range both in size and scale, from the new Kingston Beach Facilities by JAWS Architects to the CH Smith Building in Launceston by Artas Architects, and in type, from new houses, such as the Lake House by MGA.I, to the Bridge of Remembrance by Denton Corker Marshall.

‘We invite the public to browse through some of the most innovative new architecture that is being produced in Tasmania,’ says Australian Institute of Architects Tasmanian Chapter Executive Director, Jennifer Nichols.

‘Architects have the unique ability to problem solve, and the projects entered in this year’s awards are evidence of that. Problem solving is going to be critical in the months ahead as we forge to find solutions to the problems the pandemic is presenting to us.’

A range of prizes are up for grabs for those who cast their vote. These include a Zip HydroTap which will deliver you boiling, chilled, sparkling or filtered water at the touch of a button, a pair of inconically Tasmanian Blundstone boots, a soft and sustainable Waverley Mills blanket, and a night’s accommodation at #theBaeTAS, a micro-luxe apartment in Sandy Bay that received the Tasmanian Chapter’s 2019 Edith Emery Award for Residential Architecture – Houses (Alterations and Additions), and a National Award for Interior Architecture in the 2019 Australian Institute of Architects Awards.

To vote in the People’s Choice, head to https://www.architecture.com.au/awards/entrant-gallery-tas-chapter-2020-national-architecture-awards/, scroll through the projects and follow the link at the bottom of your favourite. Voting is open until midnight, 28 June 2020.

The Tasmanian Architecture Awards winners are selected by independent juries and will be announced at a digital awards ceremony on 12 June 2020 at 8 pm via https://www.youtube.com/user/AusArchitects.
