From the CEO

10 Feb

At the end of last year, we announced a major breakthrough for gender equity in the profession of architecture with National Council officially approving the organisation’s first Gender Equity Policy.

In addition to approving the policy, National Council endorsed the establishment of a National Committee on Gender Equity.

Responsible for ensuring and guiding the implementation of the policy and providing recommendations on additional actions, initiatives and programs, the committee will further drive gender equality within the architecture industry.

We are now seeking Expressions of Interest for the Gender Equity Committee. If you would like to be part of this group, you can find more information here.

Elections have been taking place around the country for National Council. The National President, Paul Berkemeier, will provide a comprehensive update here in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, be sure to vote for the Nationally-Elected Councillors; the ballot is open until 2pm AEDT, 18 Feb. This is an important opportunity to shape the future of your Institute.

Another way to help shape the organisation is to take part in our annual members’ survey, which you will receive this week by email. As a member of the Institute, your views on how we can maximise the value of your membership are very important to us.

This survey provides you the opportunity to comment on your membership experience; to identify the features of your membership that you value most and the features that you feel the Institute could further enhance.

I strongly encourage you to take part in the survey. If you have any questions about the process, please email survey@architecture.com.au

Kind regards,

David Parken
