Readying for SA’s Planning System

South Australia’s new planning system is nearing completion.
To assist the state’s architects and landscape architects prepare for full operation of the Planning and Design Code and ePlanning system in 2021, the State Planning Commission, Attorney-General’s Department and Office for Design and Architecture SA (ODASA) are pleased to offer this two-hour informative session.
Michael Lennon (Chair, State Planning Commission), Craig Holden (Member, State Planning Commission) and Chad King (Business Readiness, Planning and Land Use Services) will provide:
- a general update on the planning reform
- presentation of recently announced residential infill policy improvements
- how industry will be supported through the final stages of implementation
- an introduction to the ePlanning system with a live demonstration

About the Presenters:
Michael Lennon (Chair, State Planning Commission)
Michael is the current Chair of the State Planning Commission and has been a member since its inception in 2017.
Michael’s 25-year international career in housing, planning and urban development includes a position as CEO of the Glasgow Housing Association, where he oversaw the largest housing stock transfer in Europe.
Prior to this he was the first CEO of Housing New Zealand Corporation. In 2008, Michael established and began the growth of Housing Choices Australia, where he has been Managing Director since 2014.
Craig Holden (Member, State Planning Commission)
Craig’s career encompasses forty years in architecture, property development and building construction in South Australia.
He is a Director of Forme Projex, the multi-award winning property development company specialising in inner city urban renewal and a current member of South Australia’s State Planning Commission. Craig is also an executive member of the Urban Development Institute of Australia (SA Division), the SA Property Council of Australia and a board member of the ACH Group.
His career in property in South Australia has afforded considerable experience with the planning system and understanding the importance of the new Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016 changes in land-use planning for the future of all South Australians.
Chad King (Business Readiness, Planning and Land Use Services, Attorney-General’s Department)
Chad is a social planner and entrepreneur with a passion for technology. He specialises in community engagement and process redesign.
Chad began his first start-up at high school and has created several more since then, including Australia’s first carbon neutral web hosting company.
Chad currently leads the Business Readiness Team for the Planning Reform and has been a key member of the team delivering the state’s new ePlanning system
