Online: Updates from remote, regional and urban practices – Member Lean In session
28 Apr 2020 at 12:00 pm AEST
This Lean In session will take an in-depth look at how architectural practices across Australia are currently coping and adapting to new ways of working in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Join us to hear from two practices: one in remote regional Australia and from a practice based in the heart of metropolitan Melbourne. Both are adapting to new challenges and we’ll explore what steps are being taken to continue providing essential services and keep these practices running successfully.
Presenting from regional Australia, Phillip Nielsen is an architect and co-founder of Regional Design Service in Corowa, NSW. Located in a small town on the border of New South Wales and Victoria, the studio considered itself geographically isolated well before the rest of us entered our own versions of isolation. During this session, Phillip will provide an introduction to the studio, its private and public projects and reflect on practice experiences arising from the global health crisis.
Presenting with her experiences as a city-based architect, Monique Woodward, founder of WOWOWA, will share her thoughts on how architecture practices in dense metropolitan areas have adapted to the new normal. She’ll share her tips, guidance and advice for members across Australia on how to stay connected, successful and sane as we traverse the current restrictive environments in which we operate.
