Working with a professional photographer: understanding your responsibilities – Member Lean In session
21 Jul 2020 at 12:00 pm AEST
With an ever increasing desire for visual recognition across different media channels, architects and designers can often overlook their responsibilities when it comes to working with copyrighted material.
In this Lean In session, architectural photographer Scott Burrows shares some of his thoughts and experiences on ensuring that, when commissioning photography, you understand your legal responsibilities, brand protection and your own client’s privacy considerations.
Scott Burrows is a specialist architecture and interiors photographer. He’s practised for the past 20 years and has experienced some of the industry’s biggest milestones, including the transition from film to digital capture and the early incarnations of what we now know as social media.
Throughout his career, Scott has worked nationally and internationally, shooting a vast array of project types from large sporting stadiums and commercial developments through to the smallest of residential and retail spaces. Scott captures work according to his client’s needs and not that of a pre-determined aesthetic. This ensures his work stays fresh in an otherwise over-saturated environment. But the one thing that remains constant is the professional integrity, consistency and high-quality deliverables of his craft.
The purpose of this Lean In Session and its content is to raise awareness and educate only around the copyright use of photographic material and should be regarded as a reference only. It is not designed to be, nor should it be regarded as professional legal advice.
