Getting to know the new Northern Territory Planning System
6 Aug 2020 at 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm ACST
This event will be held both face to face and online.
For the past 3.5 years the Northern Territory Government has been undertaking a review of the Northern Territory’s planning system. This has led to amendments to the Planning Act 1999 and Planning Regulations 2000, and the new Northern Territory Planning Scheme 2020.
The aim of the planning reform has been to deliver an improved, more balanced and transparent planning system to foster community and industry confidence. The contributions of both community and industry during the four stages of comprehensive consultation have been invaluable in progressing the reforms.
The reforms more clearly define responsibilities of individuals and bodies, introduce time-frames at key decision points and introduce requirements to notify applicants and submitters.
Hear from representatives of the Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics how these changes will affect planning applications and inform planning decisions.
The presentation will include opportunity to workshop case studies and a chance for questions. If you are participating online, you will be put into a group with other online participants and a facilitator from Elton. Those in person will be led by Doug Lesh.
Note: Numbers due to COVID are strictly limited at the venue.
This event attracts 1.5 formal CPD points.
