Media summary

Wesley Place is one of the largest urban renewal projects in Melbourne, creating a new urban precinct connecting the rich history of the Wesley Church with next-generation workplace, retail and new public green space. The transformative precinct is anchored by the Wesley Church, its celebrated forecourt maintained, and a sunlit public space created between the historically significant Olive and Elm trees.

The project reinforces key urban design objectives, with the new built form designed to amplify the significance of the historic fabric and create diversity and activation at a human scale. The activated public realm, with its new urban linkages, reflective and contemplative areas, and green space all respond to the historical narrative of the site.

The landscape, designed in collaboration with Oculus, also enhances the narrative, with contemporary use of traditional civic materials in bluestone, granite, and warm timbers that complement the existing fabric and tree canopies on site.

Over the past decade, we have partnered with Cox Architecture and Oculus to deliver one of Melbourne’s most significant urban renewal projects. The precinct fulfils Charter Hall’s vision for an iconic cultural landmark and mixed‑use destination, with nearly 100,000 square metres of A‑Grade and premium office space and a diverse tenant mix. It is enhanced by standout food and beverage offerings, including the world‑renowned Caretaker’s Cottage, and reflects Charter Hall’s commitment to sustainability through the adaptive reuse of heritage buildings and the repositioning of 150 Lonsdale as a premier commercial address.
