Traces is a mixed-use warehouse block in Sydney’s Surry Hills, offering twenty generously appointed units.
The building pays homage to the neighbourhood’s rich textile industry history and the former hardware store that once stood on the property.
The design combines design elements of a traditional brick warehouse and inner-city terrace, with modern architectural elements. The original brick material is prominently displayed, and the building’s silhouette is retained through the use of glazed white brick. Traces features an open central courtyard, split level between east and west wings, a communal garden on the roof, and top-level apartments with black zinc exteriors.
The interiors have an industrial aesthetic with exposed concrete ceilings, track lighting, and timber flooring for a sense of warmth. The bottom level in its entirety is dedicated to retail, further integrating the building into the vibrant urban village.
