Rooted in the rural charm of the Southern Downs, The Shed Stanthorpe reimagines the region’s iconic shed architecture with a refined, contemporary edge. This luxury short-term accommodation seamlessly blends industrial robustness with warm, inviting interiors, offering a high-end retreat in the heart of the Granite Belt.
Set within Stanthorpe’s town centre, The Shed stands as a testament to both simplicity and traditional architecture. The building’s modest footprint belies its clever functionality, effortlessly accommodating up to six guests. Locally sourced materials ground the structure in its surroundings, while solar energy integration ensures a minimal environmental impact. Strategic glazing provides privacy while inviting natural light to dance across raw textures, connecting guests to the landscape beyond.
The Shed Stanthorpe not only offers an intimate and private escape but also fosters community pride—an ethos echoed in its widespread acclaim, with over 500k views on social media in the past month.
As the Architect/Client, The Shed is an ongoing project for me, after designing the building I am now running the social media and supporting the local Stanthorpe community with daily posts.
It has been wonderful to read the reviews from guests, who have shared their love of The Shed. At the end of the day, I believe that good Architecture is not only about site, place and sustainability, it is also about meeting the needs of the user. I believe The Shed is fullfilling the brief of being a luxury short term stay for guests to the Granite Belt Region.
