Set along Beaconsfield Parade, The Promenade is a coastal family home shaped by context, craft and the evolving rituals of domestic life. Conceived as both artefact and vessel, the dwelling responds to its narrow, exposed site through a layered street edge of curved bluestone blades and a raised living plane that maintains uninterrupted views to Port Phillip Bay.
A streetscape “blend line” informs the home’s angular geometry to the rear, while the promenade’s vertical rhythm guides the sculpted front façade. Beneath, light-filled subterranean spaces are carved from the ground through sunken gardens and courts, creating year-round refuges animated by daylight and greenery.
Robust materials, bluestone, concrete and anodised aluminium, are softened by planting and green roofs. Early collaboration with engineers and trades enabled prototyping that reduced waste, improved construction efficiency and generated innovations for future projects.
Designed for a multi-generational family, The Promenade offers sanctuary, connection and enduring architectural presence.
The concept was incredibly considered and seamlessly integrated, the perfect home. On completion we were astonished by how stunning the final product was, exceeding our expectations.
The exterior is incredible with many amazing architectural features and impeccable detailed elements, the way light filters through various parts of the house at different times of the day makes it is such a joy to live in.
