The Halston applies a disciplined approach to suburban density through a simple, enduring idea: a courtyard that organises light, air and community at the centre of an infill housing project. In North Strathfield, the seven-storey development delivers 172 apartments arranged as three buildings around a landscaped communal heart, forming a defined internal neighbourhood while remaining open to its surroundings.
Typological diversity underpins the scheme. Around one-third of the dwellings are three- and four-bedroom homes, many with generous ground-floor courtyards that reinterpret the suburban backyard. Affordable housing managed by a Community Housing Provider and NDIS-compliant apartments are integrated throughout without distinction in amenity. A brick podium anchors the project within its mixed industrial and suburban context, while lightweight prefinished cladding above reduces embodied carbon, structural demand and long-term maintenance.
As the first completed infill affordable housing project under the current NSW initiative, The Halston demonstrates inclusive, carefully considered urban housing.
