Media summary

The Performing Arts Building is a flexible, contemporary learning facility designed to support both curriculum delivery and broad ranges of co-curricular and community activities. Conceived as a highly adaptable environment, the building brings together teaching, rehearsal, performance, and media production within a single integrated precinct.

At its heart are three interconnected studios that can operate independently or combine to form a larger performance space, supported by a tiered lecture room that extends audience capacity for events and presentations. Creative activity is expressed through the building’s layout, with music and performance spaces positioned along key circulation routes to celebrate learning as a shared and public experience.

Upper-level learning areas provide adaptable teaching and examination spaces, while a Film and Television Studio overlooking the music room enables shared use of recording facilities and cross-disciplinary collaboration. The project delivers a future-focused, efficient facility that enriches cultural life and creative learning within the College.

The Cathedral College Performing Arts facility is the realisation of a number of years of educational and facilities planning that has culminated in a contemporary, functionally flexible precinct that supports a wide range of the College’s educational requirements, with a particular focus on Music, Dance and Drama, the Performing Arts. The design, arrangements and finishes facilitate quality educational interaction for students, staff and the community while enhancing the College’s Performing Arts profile. The Performing Arts building is an amazing facility that the College is extremely proud of and key to our educational offerings.
