Gold Coast and Northern Rivers
Taking our architectural brief from a pair of creative business entrepreneurs and thought leaders, Baden and Cathy U’Ren, “Sundream” was created, the name our clients crafted as the perfect term to inform the aesthetic of their new Burleigh Heads home. “The feel of the house should be like when you’re freshly awake and squinty-eyed, peering across the ocean at the intense sun. Colours are washed out, bleached and natural with a sandy base colour. A coastal feel all-round.” Cathy explains.
Although this house may be new, the home is not, as the site was until recently occupied by a comfy bungalow that served faithfully as a home for Baden and his growing children for many years. Instead of moving on, they chose to move in, and created a vessel to capture old memories and create new ones, continuing the engagement with this beautiful location and the local community it embraces.
Sundream is beautifully functional. It retains our connection to community and love of the outdoors, capturing sunrise, sunset and sea breeze. Natural ventilation, the volume of the living spaces, and extensive use of timber and stone allow a natural lifestyle, with sky visible from every window. The kitchen and al fresco is the heart and soul of the home, and where we spend most of our time. Every aspect of the home is crafted to enhance the way we choose to live.
