Stables House reimagines the pavilion typology at a grand scale, using interior architecture as the primary tool to reconnect a large, previously fragmented property. Focussing on the experience from within primarily, the approach is formed by a series of destinations – for gathering, retreat and wellness – carefully calibrated across the landscape. The new pavilion forms the social heart of the site, elevated to restore sightlines across the pool and tennis court, allowing the living spaces to sink downward, anchoring them further.
As a celebration of gathering, the kitchen takes on a role that extends beyond production, becoming a permanent and central social core. Material continuity between inside and out intentionally blurs thresholds, with masonry, limestone and limewashed timber reinforcing a grounded yet refined textural language. Existing structures – including the former stable and garage – are adaptively reused, reinforcing a layered and flexible programming, shaped around coming together.
