The St John WA Coolamon transforms a 1970s facility on the former Courtland Pottery Works site into a flexible, future ready operational hub. Guided by the principles of Interwoven Stories, A Connective Heart, and Nature to Nurture, the project reimagines a legacy place through shared narratives that connect past and present. Public facing functions, including first aid training facilities, a museum and café, are repositioned for visibility and accessibility, strengthening engagement with the community. Above, a modern, adaptable workplace supports collaboration and evolving operational needs. Drawing on the site’s industrial heritage and civic role, the Coolamon provides a connected, welcoming and resilient environment that supports wellbeing, learning and public connection.
The St John WA Coolamon building, was thoughtfully designed to support the way we live, work, learn, and connect. The space brings together a welcoming café, an engaging museum, modern administration areas, a first aid shop, and purpose-built first aid training facilities. Each area has been designed to improve accessibility, collaboration, education, and community connection—supporting both daily operations and life‑saving learning. This renovation reflects our commitment to people, purpose, and the community we serve, now and into the future.
