Media summary

The revitalisation of Sofitel Sydney Wentworth (SSW) has redefined the luxury hotel experience. Originally opened in 1966, the refurbished interior design celebrates the hotel’s rich cultural history, blending its 1960s glamour with a contemporary Australian sensibility. Four distinct food and beverage venues were designed within SSW, each reflecting a one-of-a-kind culinary experience, transforming the hotel into an F&B-driven precinct.

The ground plane has been revitalised with the addition of a hotel restaurant, Tilda, and lobby bar, Bar Tilda. While L5 has been activated with an alfresco bar, Wentworth Bar. and new restaurant, Delta Rue.

Careful consideration of the hotel’s heritage fabric, combined with modern interventions, has resulted in a seamless integration of old and new. The design overcame complex challenges, including the creation of an open kitchen within the constraints of the existing building. The refurbishment also included a light-touch update of guestrooms and corridors, enhancing the overall guest experience.

Sofitel Sydney Wentworth’s refurbishment has re-established its position as a premier destination. Once a favoured haunt of dignitaries and celebrities, SSW has returned to its former glory days, bustling with guests and visitors.

The revitalisation has successfully modernised the hotel to contemporary luxury standards into a multi-venue precinct while respectfully preserving its iconic architectural and cultural heritage.

The design team understood our vision and delivered a holistic hospitality experience truly unique to the building’s place and history.
