Media summary

The redevelopment of Seaview Downs Primary School has transformed an ageing, fragmented campus into a cohesive, future-ready learning environment. Consolidating facilities into a new single linear building and removing end-of-life asbestos buildings restored large portions of the site to landscape, while establishing flexible, connected learning spaces across Junior, Senior and Community zones. The integrated library, shared learning areas, and Community Hub support formal and informal learning, collaboration, and after-hours community use. The building’s linear form responds to the terraced site and coastal setting, preserving views and connecting indoor and outdoor spaces, including nature-based play areas. Skylights, passive solar orientation and natural ventilation create a healthy, stimulating environment. The compact, efficient design minimises construction and lifecycle costs, demonstrating sustainable, responsible asset management. The completed project strengthens community connections, fosters wellbeing, and delivers a resilient, flexible campus that supports contemporary education while celebrating Seaview Downs’ coastal landscape.

‘Seaview Downs Primary School redevelopment places learning, wellbeing, and community at its heart. The new campus provides flexible, formal, and informal teaching spaces that support contemporary teaching and respond to the diverse needs of our staff and students. Clear physical connection between Junior, Senior, and the Community hub foster belonging, independence, and collaboration, while strong visual transparency enhances safety and engagement. Seamless indoor–outdoor learning promotes movement, curiosity, and play. The Community Hub provides secure after-hours access and strengthens connections to play spaces and sports ovals, reinforcing the school as a valued community asset
