Queensland
Brisbane
Saoir tells the story of an ambitious vision for a small site tucked into an inner-city pocket of Brisbane. Celebrating the city’s rich history in timber homes, the project treasures the quality of the early 1900’s cottage by sensitively bringing it back to its previous glory while at the same time making it fit for a 21st century lifestyle. A project undertaken between Refresh Design and Craft Building Company it is a building that challenges assumptions about residential architecture and the use of urban sites to manifest a more adaptable, enduring, and exciting response.
The architects succeeded in truly celebrating sub-tropical living when designing Saoir. The Refresh team seamlessly merged the qualities of the early 1900’s cottage with the demands of contemporary living in a very skilful executed fusion of architecture and lush sub-tropical landscaping. It is so easy to see how much thought has gone into creating this home, not only to make it beautiful but functional in every aspect and there are so many uplifting and positive surprises that we never had expected. We just really love it.
