Pavilion | MHN DESIGN UNION PTY LTD

Pavilion is a boutique residential development located in Vaucluse, Sydney. The development features nineteen apartments designed to blend seamlessly with their natural and built environment. MHNDU have aimed to create a sense of place by drawing upon contextual design strategies that capitalise on the building’s proximity to the sea. Orienting the living areas east towards the Pacific, we have encouraged a fluid integration of the impressive ocean surroundings into the primary entertaining spaces of each apartment. Intentionally angled and staggering, the building’s external presence on Old South Head Road aligns with its neighbouring structures. Using materials evocative of the coastal location, such as timber-look aluminium battens, board-form concrete walls, and white masonry balustrades, the overall palette aims to create a cohesive architectural language for the apartment block.
