Lunetta Gelateria is a compact, identity-driven hospitality interior inspired by the striped beach carts and traditional gelaterias of the Italian coastline. Designed for a new small business with a minimal budget, the project demonstrates how bold ideas—not expensive materials—can shape memorable spaces. Striped paint is applied to bulkheads and ceilings to define volume and create rhythm, while striped tiles mark the arrival threshold.
Within a narrow tenancy, spatial planning prioritises street engagement, intuitive customer flow, and showcases the making of gelato. The open counter strengthens the connection between interior and footpath, contributing vibrancy to the public realm.
Relying on a restrained palette and simplified detailing, the design minimises construction complexity while maximising brand presence. Durable, long-life materials support sustainability through longevity. Lunetta transforms a small retail footprint into a joyful, high-impact environment that proves strong identity and civic contribution can be achieved through disciplined, concept-led interior design.
The design of Lunetta reflects how I like to work: clean, efficient, and focused on quality. The curved counter guides customers naturally, while the compact layout allows smooth movement behind the bar during busy periods. The open arch into the production area creates transparency and makes the craft part of the experience.
Durable materials keep the space practical and easy to maintain. The warm terracotta tones and simple lines give it personality without distracting from the gelato. Overall, the design supports efficiency, creativity, and a welcoming atmosphere where the product is always the hero.
