Project summary

Thoughtfully composed for its prominent Headland setting, Luna forges a new architectural standard for multi-residential living at Burleigh Beach.

Emerging from idyllic coastal surroundings, the design takes an empathetically fluid form, distinct from its rectilinear neighbours. Luna is characterised by an artful, non-standard approach to utilitarian materials. Made to withstand the elements, its hardwearing concrete shell achieves a weightless appearance through bespoke detail.

Each level is wrapped in seemingly continuous, curvilinear glass, emulating the movement of light through waves. Strategically placed panels of precision-made fluted glass provide internal privacy without need for additional screening or deep recesses on the facade. This use of floor-to-ceiling fluted glazing is a first in high-rise residential buildings on the Gold Coast.

Built on a small site with very narrow frontage, we sought strategies to expand liveable space. Floor plates extend beyond the building footprint, where residents enjoy a unique vantage point above the ocean.

Queensland Jury Presentation

Representing a new phase of beachfront perfection, Luna’s boutique eight apartments, sold out around a year before completion, fetching an average $4.6 million. Designed by Plus Architecture with the interiors by Mim Design, each residence offers uninterrupted views across Burleigh Beach and the Gold Coast skyline. Luna seamlessly blends in with its stunning landscape by having thoughtfully crafted architectural elements like its curved glass façade that reflects the ocean below. In house amenity draws on a relaxed yet sophisticated ambience and includes a private ground level pool, wet-edge sun lounge, sauna and state-of-the-art gymnasium with lush plantings and cascading vines.
