The Bird Viewing Structure at Lake Joondalup enriches the way the community lives, learns, and connects with nature by providing a safe, inclusive, and immersive place to experience the wetland environment. Designed for universal access, the structure enables people of all ages and abilities to observe birdlife and seasonal changes in the lake while remaining protected from sensitive habitats. Integrated interpretation supports environmental education and cultural awareness, strengthening understanding of the site’s ecological and Aboriginal significance. By thoughtfully balancing access with conservation, the project encourages passive recreation, supports wellbeing, and fosters stewardship of a unique natural landscape.
The project was successfully delivered on time and within budget, with the  bird viewing structure and path network meeting all design and functional expectations, demonstrating effective cost management, careful planning, and adherence to the project objectives. The outcome  ensures that the community received a high-quality, durable, & fully functional public asset as intended.
