Media summary

The Japanese Pavilion is a contemporary expression of traditional Japanese architecture. This serene retreat, located on the pebble shoreline and overhanging the lake, offers views of three islands connected by vivid red bridges, a bamboo grove, and the Dragons Gate waterfall.

The Pavilion features minimalist design with natural materials such as accoya pine columns, and charred timber soffits. These materials were chosen for their durability and low maintenance. Inside, traditional tatami-inspired flooring and shoji screens create a rhythmic, open-plan space suitable for various activities.

Accessible via a bridge from the existing path, the Pavilion is inclusive for all visitors. Visitors can enjoy the tranquil sounds of swaying bamboo and trickling water while observing native plants and animals. It offers a unique experience with each visit, reflecting the changing seasons and the beauty of the surrounding gardens.
