House of Light is an architectural response shaped by the boundary conditions of its inner urban site. On a constrained 280 sqm allotment, decades of occupation and adjoining development built to all boundaries progressively reduced light and outlook.
Rather than retreating, the design treats density as a catalyst for architectural invention. A sculptural masonry envelope establishes a clear urban presence, screening adjacent infrastructure and redirecting focus toward light, sky and landscape.
Behind this protective exterior, the house is organised vertically to maximise spatial quality within a compact footprint. An entry courtyard acts as a light well and organising device, drawing daylight deep into the plan and establishing visual continuity across levels. Integrated landscape and passive strategies support a calm, durable home and a positive addition to the urban fabric.
