Emery Street transforms a long‑vacant suburban block into two crafted family homes that redefine what missing‑middle housing can be. Conceived through a female‑led development partnership, the project delivers a pair of dwellings that feel like freestanding residences rather than a conventional duplex. Each home references local architectural heritage cues, reinforcing continuity with Canberra’s suburban identity while embracing warmth, liveability and enduring materiality.Â
A strong connection to landscape underpins the design, with retained and new trees creating privacy, separation and a softened street presence. Internally, flexible four‑bedroom plans, dual living areas, abundant storage and garden‑linked family spaces support contemporary life. Purposefully oriented and passively designed to capture northern light, reduce heat loads and operate all‑electrically, the homes are complemented by water‑wise landscaping sustained by harvested roof runoff. Emery Street sets a new benchmark for design‑led suburban infill that is contextual, generous and individual.
As our first development venture, Emery Street offered the opportunity to redefine what a duplex could be in a suburb with almost no precedent. The design immediately set the project apart: two homes that feel genuinely individual, rich in character and deeply connected to the landscape. Buyers responded emotionally as much as practically, recognising the quality of planning, natural light and thoughtful details. This connection translated into market-leading sales. Beyond financial performance, there’s satisfaction in knowing we delivered homes that will age gracefully, operate efficiently and contribute positively to the neighbourhood, an investment in both community and enduring value.
