The new Kindred 2+3 family wings builds on the heritage foundation of Kindred 1, enhancing Fremantle’s urban fabric while increasing density. The design introduces contemporary structures, including skillion roofs and adaptable living spaces, meeting the needs of a large, multigenerational family.
The project reduces urban sprawl, contributes to affordable housing potential, and offers flexibility, particularly in Kindred 3, which can be converted into a standalone dwelling. The design received unanimous approval from both the DRP and Council, praised as an aspirational example of infill development.
The design sensitively integrates with its context, maintaining the heritage home’s street presence while introducing contemporary materials. It also meets the client’s brief for a functional, low-maintenance home, with interconnected spaces focused on family gatherings and personal privacy. Sustainability, flexibility, and long-term value are key outcomes, with durable materials and energy-efficient strategies underpinning the design.
Our home is a bright, organised sanctuary where everything has its place. Every room is filled with natural light, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Thoughtfully designed, it offers spaces for the kids to play and explore while keeping the sense of togetherness intact. It’s a place where both independence and connection for three generations thrive. We love it.
