The bushfires of the 2019/ 2020 New Year period were devasting for North Rosedale. Very few houses were left standing. This house was built into this context- of a small coastal hamlet still traumatised by the loss, but prepared to re-build. Our approach was to go above and beyond the consideration of the BAL 40 rating and think about a house that could withstand multiple fires, significant climate change and the use of many generations of holiday-makers. If we were to condense the key ideas of this house into three words they would be robustness, comfort, joy. The clients say; “We are just amazed at the magic of a well designed space, it works well when there are two of us and equally as well when there are 10 or more. The space feels so much bigger than it actually is.”
We’re just amazed at the magic of a well designed space, it works well when there’s two of us and equally as well when there’s 10 or more. The space feels so much bigger than it actually is.
Our favourite thing is stepping through the front door and being greeted with wonderful views of the beach and all those in the surf, a delight every single time.
What a treat, a copper ribbon around the house, one of the many ideas put to us that we fell in love with. The team understood us and delivered well beyond our expectations.Client perspective
