The new multipurpose teaching block at Chisholm Catholic College presents a contemporary, flexible learning hub that sets a vision and precedent for future campus development at the college. Informed by long-term master planning, the project transforms a former back-of-house site area into a new centre for learning that strengthens links between the college chapel, hall and civic heart.
Carefully embedded into the sloping site to allow an appropriate scale to its adjacent residential and campus context, the project integrates robust materiality, considerate landscape and flexible learning environments to support contemporary pedagogical growth.Â
The result is a contextual, sustainable and replicable model for the future development of the college campus – one that balances contemporary growth with sensitivity, a strong sense of place and a connection to campus and cultural tradition
Â
The new block has exceeded expectations, not only in terms of the quality learning-spaces, but in how it has reshaped the way students and staff experience the campus. What was once a disconnected edge is now a clear point of connection, seamlessly linking key buildings and outdoor spaces. The new teaching hub has become a vibrant and valued learning environment, supporting student wellbeing and a strong sense of belonging.
The project provides a clear and confident model for future development. Careful integration of architecture, landscape and pedagogy reflects our educational vision and provides a blueprint for the campuses continued growth.Â
