Elke Delugan-Meissl and Roman Delugan began their practice in 1993, and have become recognised for their inventive housing projects, where they have not only explored the nature of housing, but have made significant developments in the environmental attributes of the external skins of their buildings, particularly their current Wienerberg High Rise project in Vienna. Delugan Meissl are searching to generate architecture responding to the movement of the body and attempt to create ‘velocity’ in their static creations - something especially apparent in their Ray 1 apartment project, perched atop an existing office building. Their work reflects a broader design sensibility, a sense of humour and a range of influences from Charles and Ray Eames to Future Systems.
