SUSTAINABILITY STREAM SPECIAL
The Royal Australian Institute of Architects is offering a 'sustainability stream special' deal for Friday 7 & Saturday 8 April for the sum of $120 for student members.
This special pass will give SONA members access to the earth / air / fire / water sessions at the RAIA National Conference - the future is now! As a special bonus to this pass students will be able to attend the ABC Radio National Panel to be recorded at 10am Friday 7th April.
SUSTAINABILITY SESSIONS
A Sustainability stream, under the direction of Tone Wheeler of Environa Studio, covers four related sessions themed "Earth, Air, Fire and Water". Sessions are project based, focussing on three projects for each theme. Two half day workshops on Sunday will follow the Friday and Saturday presentations.
Sustainability of materials (of the earth!): contrasting the more "traditional" low impact materials, such as rammed earth, with current thinking on the use of factory assembly and radical new materials as a way to the future.
Space and air quality issues (the air we breathe!): particularly the workplace and the need to provide increased levels of performance in thermal and lighting comfort, with less energy and materials outgassing.
Energy issues (the power of fire!): combining the issues of building design with broader issues of urban densification.
Water conservation applied in innovative ways (water by design!): Projects with an outward manifestation of the water issues, not just a buried technology that improves performance.
ABC RADIO PANEL DISCUSSION
This panel discussion is your opportunity to join Alan Saunders for a recording of one of the ABC's newest and most popular shows. 'By Design' (previously known as the Comfort Zone). Start the day with a lively debate as a panel of conference speakers discuss key ideas to be exposed at the conference. This is also your chance at listening of the Auditorium Session's speakers.

If you are interested in attending the National Architecture Conference with the 'Sustainability Stream Special' turn up EARLY to the Level 1 Parkside Foyer of the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre (SCEC) on Friday 7 April. Remember if you wish to see the exciting ABC Radio National Panel make sure you get in early , as this will fill up quickly, so don't miss out.
