Continuing Education on the rise
In response to the changing regulatory environment for architects in Australia, the RAIA is developing systems
to provide members with the ways and means to build skills and knowledge.
The AACA/RAIA Joint Policy is now online at www.architecture.com.au under ‘The RAIA’ and then
‘Policies’.
Continuing Education (CE) in this policy has a learning outcome and is related to the AACA Competency Standards.
The activity is then identified as 'formal' or 'informal' based on the level of interaction and assessment.
The RAIA conference THE FUTURE IS NOW! is a great opportunity to undertake continuing education and will provide
both ‘informal’ and ‘formal’ CE points/hours. With some planning it will be possible for architects to acquire
most of their annual requirement of CE points/hours at the 2006 conference.
Please click here to download a guide to the CE
points awarded for conference events, and the
learning outcomes and AACA Competency Standards for each session.

Are you registered in NSW?
The NSW Architects Registration Board has released its policy on CE and is requiring architects to certify that
they will intend to take all reasonable steps to maintain and improve their skills and knowledge.
'The future is now!', will provide you with a significant portion of your CE hours, both ‘formal’ and ‘informal’, as
required under the NSW Architects Registration Board's policy.
The NSW Architects Registration Board's policy can be found at
www.architects.nsw.gov.au under ‘Forms and
publications’. The RAIA NSW Chapter has information on the CE requirements specific to NSW registered architects -
www.architecture.com.au.
The AACA Competency Standards can be found at www.aaca.org.au
under ‘Publications’.
