Archivision is an initiative hosted by the Australian Institute of Architects in providing a platform to engage with the academy and the profession. The inaugural meeting in 2006 generated overwhelming support from universities and provided a forum for practitioners to discuss issues of vital importance to the future of both architectural practice and the academies.Collaborative activities which join together the research knowledge of architects in practice with the learning and research expertise and capabilities of universities, are able to produce highly productive partnerships. In particular the opportunities for design led research, ranging from urban design through to digital design and practice, are significant in developing a sustainable long term architectural culture in this country. The Institute is committed to bringing the academy and the profession together, exploring issues relevant to architectural education and industry as well as providing possible solutions to move issues forward. For information about Archivision contact the Institute National Education Manager at education@architecture.com.au. Archivision 2010 Archivision 2010 was successfully held on 8 July in Adelaide. The topic for Archivision 2010 was 'engagement: practice and research'. The forum explored how practice-inspired research can be enabled through partnering practice with architecture schools/programs, and provided recommendations on methods for improved knowledge-exchange, including case-focused research to improve the evidence base in existing and emerging fields. |
