Archicentre

Archicentre, again had a record year with the total number of reports being 17 per cent higher than in 2005. Our largest area of growth being in our pest inspection report division (500 per cent) but we also had good rates of growth in building inspections up four per cent) and Architect’s Advice reports (up 19 per cent).

For the fourth consecutive year design report numbers dropped, the 2006 result being nine per cent lower than 2005.
During 2006 we expanded our pest inspection business to NSW, in preparation for further expansion to the remaining states in 2007.

Our Mosman Green display home attracted considerable media coverage before its sale and we ran successful public seminars on home buying, home renovating, conservation and numerous other topics in every state. We launched our internet-based training system in conjunction with the RAIA on the Continuum site.

We also had considerable publicity for our Tree Houses display project, Seaford Life Saving Club design competition and our monthly renovation features which appear in most states.

We incurred significant unexpected expenses which impacted on our profitability. We sold our Mosman Green display renovation for $2.2 million and we incurred expenses in legal fees and claims for several long standing claims. Together these represented about $500,000 in write offs, but we have now cleared these from our books.

We managed to post a profit of $81,496 (before tax) which compares with a 2005 loss ($81,510) and previous years profits of $365,, $209, $937, #219,012 and $208,373.

2007 will be another year of growth as we launch our new Repairs and Maintenance Division as well as expanding our current services and introducing our pest inspection service in Queensland, Western Australian and South Australia.
