Overview
The BDP Environment Design Guide (EDG) continued to provide a solid source of technical environmental expertise to RAIA members in 2004. This was reflected in the 2004 RAIA Membership Survey, with 75 per cent of respondents rating EDG as “important”.
Highlights
EDG published a special issue examining all aspects of lighting in August. The issue detailed the latest best practice in lighting strategies, examining efficient energy consumption, as well as how the use of lighting can positively impact on people’s well being. The issue was supported by the Australian Greenhouse Office and developed with the assistance of the Lighting Centre of Excellence - a collaborative network of industry associations that includes the RAIA.
The Way Ahead
The guide is continuing to maintain its solid audience, and is planning to increase membership in 2005 by raising its profile in relevant media. This is being combined with a stronger editorial focus to ensure the guide caters not just to the fully fledged environmentalist, but also inspires members who are becoming increasingly interested in ecologically sustainable development.
