What are Practice Advisory Notes?

It all started back in 1962 when a small number of architectural practices began a practice group to provide mutual support and advice in practice matters. The value of the group was quickly recognised and Practice Services was established shortly afterwards.

The publication of Practice Notes began immediately and was soon followed by Management, Law and Cautionary Notes along with Reports and Dissertations. Guide Letters, Client notes and Technical Notes followed in later years. Today there are over 500 notes in a full set.

The Advisory Notes are written, primarily, by practicing architects who are able to draw on personal, practical experience in the practise of architecture. The notes represent a significant part of the collective wisdom of the profession. The powerhouse of Practice Services is the National Practice Committee supported by Practice Committees in each Chapter. Membership of the Committee is drawn from each state and territory and is representative of a wide variety of architectural practice.

Provided here is an electronic example of a practice note in Adobe PDF format. Also included is an example of the quarterly Practice Newsletter that is sent to all subscribers.
